Clinical & Medical Education
SHARE’s team of volunteers regularly visit the Tigray region of Ethiopia to share good practice with communities and healthcare professionals.
Since the inception of SHARE numerous visits have been undertaken by surgeons and medics, for up to 4 weeks at a time. On a number of occasions SHARE volunteers have taken extended placements for up to 3 or 4 months, teaching general medicine and primary healthcare as well as HIV and GUM healthcare.
The relationships that SHARE has established in Ethiopia are also reciprocal with many medical professionals coming to visit the UK. All of those travelling from Ethiopia to the UK have done so to expand their knowledge through training and observation of best practice in our country’s first-class healthcare settings.
These individuals return to Ethiopia to then share and pass on this invaluable knowledge.
